Description
Shiro to Kuro - White & Black Special Manchuria issue (#19), published in an edition of 100 copies in November 1931, so only two months after the start of the Japanese invasion of Manchuria, on September 19th. 18 self-printed woodblock prints by 15 different artists. Paper size: 21 x 29.5 cm. Print sizes differ greatly, from prints 6 x 6 cms to nearly page-size prints. Extremely rare, not only because of its small edition, but mainly because of of its subject matter.
Condition
Fine impression and colours, good/very good condition. Apart from one print with a stain (the blue one), all other prints are in fine shape. They are pasted onto pages of coarse brown paper. A (home-made) list of artists (Maekawa Senpan, Hatsuyama Shigeru, Enan Shirô, Ogawa Tatsuhiko a.o.) and print titles in English is available.
