Description Portrait of Kawakami Sumio (1895-1972) Paper size: 76 x 22.8 cm., size of the woodblock print 26.3 x 18.3 cm. A woodblock print, printed on thin paper, and showing Kawakami Sumio with his characteristic pipe, has been pasted onto a piece of brown paper (with a printed red edge), and the announcement in purple has been added by Munakata (in his characteristic hand). The text reads: 21-7 till 25-7, Mr Kawakami Sumio - Print exhibition - at Tea House Takara. This is a poster, actually used in the late 1920s. Extremely rare - probably unique

Condition Fine impression and colours, mixed condition: The poster paper has a reinforced middlefold, there is some rain damage, and a bit of insect damage.
