Hamanishi Katsunori (1949- )

Hamanishi Katsunori was born in Hokkaidô in 1949. He graduated from Tokai University in 1973. He spent time as a visiting artist at the Cleveland Institute of Art, and in 1987 he spent a year studying at the University of Pennsylvania. Later still he became visiting professor at the University of Alberta.
In 2004 he had a major exhibition at the Worcester Art Museum together with Hamaguchi Yozo, who like him excels in the difficult genre of the mezzotint, a drypoint technique, which is very demanding and difficult to do really well.
