Born in Kyoto, Isa Kunio is primarily known for his work as a stencil (kataezome) dyer. He is from an ancient family of craftsmen. His woodblock prints are rarely seen, though his stencil works are exhibited regularly (a.o. in the Kyoto Municipal Museum).
