Description
The actor Onoe Kikugorô V (1844-1903) in the role of Matsuomaru. Size of the triptych as a whole: 71 x 36 cm. Published in 1897 (Meiji 29). The writing in the red square gives the play - Sugawara denju tenrai kagami, and then the scene - Terakoya no ba. The writing next to the actor's name also states that the performance was the second item given at the Meiji-za theatre.
Condition
Fine impression (extensive blindprinting) and colours, (fairly) good condition: some condition issues: two of the three sheets joined, album backing, offsetting of the metallic pigments of the centre and righthand sheets. Still, a very powerful design.
