Tsukamoto Shigeru was born in Kyoto in 1903. He studied woodblock printing with Nakamura Tsune and Makino Torao. He was influenced by Onchi Kôshirô and Asahi Masahide. He contributed to the magazine Shi to hanga between 1922 and 1925 and to HANGA in 1924.
