Born in Yokohama in 1983, Uekawa Ai graduated at the Seisen Jokaguin Junior Highschool in 2002. In 2008 she graduated at the Tokyo University of Art and Design, and in the same year she had her first solo exhibition at Ginza Galerie Sol, followed by an exhibition at the well-known Yoseido Gallery. Her work is instantly recognizable, and her solo exhibitions are known to sell out completely.
