After he had been a student with Takeuchi Seihô, Japan's most famous 20th century Nihonga painter, Miki Suizan 三木翠山 was a regular contributor to the Bunten, Teiten, Shin Bunten and Nitten (government-sponsored) exhibitions. In the 1920s the publisher Satô Shôtarô published 14 woodblock prints designed by him.
