Hayashi Masahiro was born in Kofu city, Yamanashi prefecture. He has been studying mokujikibutsu (Buddha statues carved by the travelling monk Mokujiki Shônin (1718-1810)) and woodblock prints since 1960. In 1973 he established the print workshop, Bisho Kazanbô.
