Description
Tôsei fûzoku gojûban uta-awase - Fifty modern genre scenes compared in verse Two volumes, bound Japanese style, book size: 18.2 x 25 cm. Each volume has 25 illustrations faced by pages of texts by several distinguished authors, and with kyôka followed by an interpretation or moral. Published in 1907 and clearly and cleverly imitating western satirical periodicals, like the German Simplicissimus. Illustrated are ten out of the fifty illustrations (see detail 2). All illustrations are in colour.
Condition
Fine impression, colours and condition: remarkably good & fresh condition. Small piece of the cover of one book missing. The covers show figures in lacquer printing (see detail 1).
