Nozu Sakichi was a graduate from the art department of Nihon University. He is not very well-known in the West, in spite of the fact that he was influenced by many more important artists of his day: he learned lithography and etching from Oda Kazuma, and woodblockprinting from Hiratsuka Un'ichi and Onchi Kôshirô. In 1935 he exhibited with the Nihon Hanga Kyôkai. Subsequently he became an art teacher at different institutions (a.o. the Tokyo University of Fine Arts). He contributed to Hiratsuka's Kitsutsuki hangashû in 1942. He sometimes signs with the Kanji for "Saki" carved in the block.
