Description Sasamaki (ささまき ) Rice balls Paper size: 39.8 x 29.2 cm. Self-printed in 1942. Sasamaki are packages of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. They are especially eaten during festivals, and when you look at the carp streamer the boy has in his hand, this must be the Dragon Boat Festival, celebrated on May 5th.
