Description
Shibazôjôji Sanmon (芝増上寺山門 ) - Gate to Zôjôji Temple (Shiba) Paper size: 26.6 x 19.1 cm. Number 3 from an edition of 50, published by Nakajima Jûtarô in May 1929, as part of the series One Hundred Views of New Tokyo - Shin Tokyo hyakkei. With the original folder (detail 1) showing the title slip of the series plus a red stamp giving the title of the print, plus artist's name. On the print small artist's seal "Sak" bottom left. Shin Tokyo hyakkei is undoubtedly the best pre-war series of Sôsaku Hanga, with contributions by the ten leading artists of the period.
Condition
Fine impression, colours and condition the folder shows foxing and browning, but the print itself is (miraculously) unaffected. RARE
