Description
Two heavenly maidens Paper size: 30 x 53 cm. Print dedicated to 保田 與重郎 - Yasuda Yojûrô (1910-1981), the name of his Kyoto mansion 身余堂 (Shinyodô) in the black oblong cartouche top left. Yasuda Yojûrô was a culture czar in post-war Kyoto, and the author of the Kodansha monograph on Munakata in 1950s. The text above reads "みささきの このかたおか のとよあき にわがにひつ", which hasn't yielded a good translation (yet). The colours applied to the back of the print as always. Signed in pencil with red Munakata seal. Dated "9158", which should be interpreted as "1958".
Condition
Fine impression and colours, good/very good condition: printed on thin crinkly paper, frayed at the edges in several places, probably a characteristic of the kind of paper used.
