Paper size 38.4 x 46.9 cm
Edition Date 1936
Description Tainan kôbyô sokubon (台南孔廟側門) - Side gate of the Confucian shrine in Tainan (Taiwan) Paper size: 38.4 x 46.9 cm. The blocks were carved by Onchi in 1936, and he made a very limited number of impressions. After the war Sekino Jun'ichirô made between 10 and 20 impressions from the same blocks. He stamped the print verso. Accompanying the print is the original folder (see detail 1), with the title ("Red Gate", Formosa by Kôshirô Onchi (plus title an artist's name in Kanji)), AND a group of very clear fingerprints (probably Sekino's, or perhaps Onchi's?).
Condition Fine impression and colours, very good condition: some tape residue top verso. For the rest this impression by Sekino comes remarkably close to the impressions Onchi made before the war.
