Description
Tainan kōbyō sokubon (台南孔廟側門) - Side gate of the Confucian shrine in Tainan (Taiwan) Paper size: 38.4 x 47.3 cm. The blocks were carved by Onchi in 1936, and he made a very limited number of impressions. After the war Sekino Jun'ichirō made between 10 and 20 impressions from the same blocks. He stamped the print verso (see detail 1).
Condition
Fine impression and colours, very good condition: this impression by Sekino comes remarkably close to the impressions Onchi made before the war. Sekino was a fabulous printer, witness also his own prints from the early part of his career.
