Itô Ryosaku was born in Kyoto in 1941. After graduating from the oil painting department of the Kyoto Municipal Fine Art University, he has exhibited extensively both at home and abroad. He has made a series of woodblock prints that were inspired by operas. He is clearly inspired by the work of Munakata Shikô.
