Unno Mitsuhiro (1939-1979)

Born in Shizuoka, Unno Mitsuhiro was self-taught. Before he became an artist he had graduated from the Shizuoka Business High School. He became an associate member of the Nihon Hanga Kyōkai in 1969. His very promising career was cut short by his untimely death in 1979. His work includes unidealized representations of country life. Many of his prints are characterized by his use of colors, particularly colors contrasting with deep black.
