About the life and career of Tanaka Kunizô, very little is known. His best-known work is Tokyô Meisho Hanga Shô "Collection of famous places of Tokyô", published between 1974 and 1977 in five cassettes of 20 prints each.
During this period, in 1976, he also made a series of 20 prints about the life of Jesus Christ. His work is very recognizable and is characterized by shallow carving and a grainy style of printing.
