Osamu Tatematsu was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1935. He graduated from the Aichi University of Education, Department of Fine Arts, and was a researcher. He is know an a romantic artist, mainly producing lithographs. His works in the Tale of Genji series depict the love, suffering, and bliss of the women who appear in the story.
