Mutô Rokurô (1907-1995)

Mutô Rokurô studied Japanese-style painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, where he graduated in 1934. As a student he also studied woodblock making, and from 1931-1936 he exhibited with the Nihon Hanga Kyôkai. His prints often depict scenes from everyday life. He developed an interest in the folk art movement, where he became known as a dye and paper craftsman.
