Born in Kyôto as Seiichi Miyake, Hôhaku Miyake graduated at the Kyoto Municipal School of Fine Arts and Crafts. His speciality were jinbutsu-ga, paintings of people; as a student he studied under Yamamoto Shunkyō (1871-1933). He was a frequent exhibitor with the Bunten, the Teiten and the Nitten. He died at the age of 63.
