Kon Junzô (1893-1944)

Born in Aomori Prefecture, Kon Junzō was educated as a painter. He graduated in 1913 at the Waseda Higher Technical School. He exhibited paintings at the Bunten and Teiten. After the 1923 Earthquake he returned to Aomori, where he started teaching art at a normal school. He made etchings, lithographs and woodblock prints. He had a strong influence on young Aomori artists like Sekino Jun'ichirō and Munakata Shikō. He taught Sekino etching, and Sekino made a woodblock print of him in 1975. in 1939 he returned to Tokyo an became a factory worker.
