Hirezaki Eihô (1881 - 1970)

In 1900 Hirezaki Eihô started his study with Migita Toshihide, one of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's best pupils. In 1904 he also started to study Shijô painting with Kawabata Gyokushô. In the first part of his career he made a name for himself by making drawings of sumo wrestlers for the Asahi Shimbun. At the same time he exhibited paintings, made designs for kuchi-e, illustrations for novels and magazines, and designs for larger woodblock prints.
