Biography Kikuchi, Zenjir˘ (1911 - )

Zenjir˘ Kikuchi was a victim of WWII. After being active in the 1930s in the Shin Hanga Shűdan and in the Z˘kei Hanga Ky˘kai he was drafted into the army and was killed while serving his country. His main work consists of b/w prints of proletarian subjects or of scenes in his home town, which was situated on the old Tokaido highway. Sometimes he used "ZEN" as his signature (carved in the block).
