Biography Takahashi, Tasabur˘ (1904 - 1977)

Takahashi Tasabur˘ was a student of the painter and occasional printmaker Tsuchida Bakusen; he was also influenced by Nagase Yoshiro. He had graduated at the Kyoto Technical School of Painting. In 1935-36 he exhibited with the Nihon Hanga Ky˘kai. Before WWII he had already cooperated with Tokuriki Tomikichir˘ . In 1948 the latter, Takahashi Tasabur˘, Kamei Tobei and Kotozuka Eiichi established a company named Koryokusha to publish their own S˘saku hanga. K˘rokusha was financed by Matsukyű, a company owned by Tokuriki Tomikichir˘ . Tomikichir˘'s heart was with the self-carved and self-printed S˘saku hanga prints.
