Biography Takahashi, Tasaburô (1904 - 1977)

Takahashi Tasaburô was a student of the painter and occasional printmaker Tsuchida Bakusen; he was also influenced by Nagase Yoshiro. He had graduated at the Kyoto Technical School of Painting. In 1935-36 he exhibited with the Nihon Hanga Kyôkai. Before WWII he had already cooperated with Tokuriki Tomikichirô . In 1948 the latter, Takahashi Tasaburô, Kamei Tobei and Kotozuka Eiichi established a company named Koryokusha to publish their own Sôsaku hanga. Kôrokusha was financed by Matsukyû, a company owned by Tokuriki Tomikichirô . Tomikichirô's heart was with the self-carved and self-printed Sôsaku hanga prints.
