Biography Maeda, Morikazu (1932 - )

Morikazu Maeda is another artist who gradually switched from oil painting to printmaking. In 1955 he exhibited oil paintings and also small woodblock prints. From then on he exhibited with Tokyo International Print Biennale in 1957, Nihon Hanga Kyōkai in 1959, of which he became a member in 1964. He demonstrated woodblock techniques at conferences in USSR and in Northern Europe.
He makes highly patterned and somewhat abstract landscape prints. His signature, when written in Western script, is in mirror image.
