Biography Yamanaka, Kodô (1869 - 1945)

Yamanaka Kodô was one of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi's last students. In 1901, he helped found the Ugôkai (the Cormorant Society) together with Ikeda Terukata (1883-1921), Ikeda Shôen (1886-1917) and Kaburagi Kiyokata (1878-1973). Apart from bijin prints he also made I>kuchi-e and landscape prints. In the last part of his life he made woodblock prints of movie actresses under the name of Tatsushige.
