Biography Nakagawa, Isaku (1899 - 2000)
In 1918 Isaku Nakagawa graduated at the Kyoto City School of Fine Arts. Subsequently he went to the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting, and graduated in 1921. He participated in the formation of the Kyoto Sôsaku-Hanga Kyôkai and participated in this group's exhibitions. From 1932 he was a member of the Nihon Hanga Kyôkai. Already at that time he made his living as an antiques dealer, and he became president of the Oriental Antique Art Study Group in 1936. In the 1960s he lectured on Japanese painting and modern prints at the University of California and in the San Francisco area. In his very long life he contributed to numerous international exhibitions.
