Biography Zuigetsu, Ikeda (1877 - 1944)

Not much is known about Ikeda Zuigetsu in the literature. He is primarily known for a limited edition (300 copies) portfolio of exquisite woodblock prints based on the paintings he made of the extensive orchid collection that Kaga Shotaro had bred at his Villa Oyamazaki in the 1930s. Later, in 2006, 12 of these prints were re-issued as a set - at the substantial price of USD 6850. The original set was printed by Uchida.
Apparently more sets of prints were made based on his paintings.
