Biography Kimura, Kinshû 木村 金秋 (1833 - 1917)

Kimura Kinshû was born in Nagoya into a samurai family. In 1850 he was adopted by Kimura Yoshizô. At an early age he showed his talent for painting. He first worked in the Yamato style (paintings of court-scenes), later in his life he developed his own style, which was considerably freer and more individual. One of his pupils was Morimura Yoshine (1871-1938).
in 1876 he became an official in Aichi Prefecture. He gained a reputation of being both dedicated and incorruptible.
