Description
The story of the priest Nittô of the temple Emmei-in: Ushinosuke (son of Kabuki actor Onoe Kikugorô I) was forced to flee Edo because his sexual exploits had resulted in a murder. He entered Emmei-in, where he became abbot. However he continued his affairs with women, and he was ultimately put to death. We see him here with the servant Okoro. From the series Shinsen azuma nishiki-e - New selection of eastern brocade pictures, published by Tsunashima Kamekichi in 1885.Each sheet 25.5 x 37 cm.
Condition
Very good impression, colours and condition: use of lacquer and blindprinting, the waves on the screen behind Okoro sprinkled with mica. Loose, unbacked sheets.
