Okada, Yoshio (1934 - )
Genji emaki, a complete set of four prints, illustrating four chapters of the Genji monogatari - The Tale of Genji, written by Murasaki Shikibu in the early 11th century. Four chapters are illustrated: Akashi, Matsukaze, Hotaru and Wakana, chapters 13, 18, 25 and 34 respectively. Sizes differ slightly: ca. 40 x 31 cm. Each print has two hand-applied seals reading "Yoshi". Published by Yūyūdo (悠々洞出版) in 1978.

Fine impression and colours, very good condition: minor foxing on the margin of the sheet top right (see detail 2). Each print is in its own mat; the four mats are in a stiff, silk-covered folder, which in its turn is in a cardboard chitsu. The latter has some wear.
