Kawanishi, Hide (1894 - 1965)

Egoyomi (calendar print) of April 1942 (Showa 17); an unidentified martial figure, equipped with a sword, sits under a calender leaf.

Very good impression and colours, fairly good condition: many small pinholes at the top (this sheet was apparently part of a loose-leafed calendar - I know of two other sheets from the same calendar by Shiko Munakata and Sumio Kawakami), trace of a horizontal middlefold, some mild toning.
Extremely rare, as are all Sosaku Hanga wartime prints.
