Shanghai shoken (上海所見) View of Shanghai, from T˘y˘ no tabi (東洋の旅) - Oriental journey, a set of six prints about the artist's trip to the Orient (other prints show Hong Kong, the Suez canal, the pyramids a.o.). These prints were printed in Paris in either 1929 or 1930. The print shown here is dated February 1930, but I have seen illustrations of the same design with other months (e.g December 1929). Print details in pencil in the bottom margin.
Fine impression, colours and condition: this print has been overprinted in places (see "detail") in a way that has produced a kind of craquelÚ varnish, something I haven't encountered before!
