Biography Shimizu, Miezô (1893 - 1962)

Shimizu Miezô was born in Yokkaichi, Mie prefecture. In 1919 he graduated at the sculpture department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He is known to have worked as an illustrator for book covers and newspaper novels. Around 1930 he designed a bijin series, Twelve months of Chikamatsu - Chikamatsu jûni-kagetsu.
