Biography Kitamura, Imazô (1900 - 1946)

Born around the turn of the century, Imazô Kitamura formed the Sankôkai in Kobe, together with Hide Kawanishi and Tadao Harumura, in 1929. He contributed to many Hanga magazines, and he also contributed designs to the 1939 series One hundred views of new Japan - Shin Nihon hyakkei. His style was strongly influenced by Hide Kawanishi and is characterized by simple carving.
