Biography Yomogida, Heiemon (1882 - 1947)

Yomogida Heiemon was a physician, and while working in a clinic in the early 1930s he met Fukazawa Sakuichi, under whose influence he began to produce landscape prints. In 1935 he contributed to Shin Hanga and in the 1930s he became a member of the Shin Hanga Shūdan, the Zokei Hanga Kyōkai and in 1944 a member of the Nihon Hanga Kyōkai. His landscapes often depict industrial scenes and have working-class overtones.
