Biography Hirano, Hakuhô (1879 - 1957)

Very little is known about Hakuhô Hirano; it is known he was born in Kyoto, that he studied classical Kanô painting and Nihonga, and that he was interested in Shin Hanga.
He made six prints for Watanabe Shôzaburô in the early 1930s, two of which were shown at the 1936 Toledo Musum of Art exhibition.
His prints of girls are extremely elegant and at the same time intimate; it is not known why he made so few prints, whereas he was evidently so well qualified.
