Biography Kimpô, Mochizuki 金鳳 望月 (1846 - 1915)

Mochizuki Kimpō was born in Osaka in 1846. He first studied in the Maruyama school, then under the Shijō painter Nishiyama Kan’ei. In 1890 he established himself in Tokyo as an independent artist. He was a juror for the Bunten from 1908.
He specialised in kachōga and paintings of animals, particularly tanuki..
