Biography Gyokuhô Hasegawa 玉峰 長谷川 (1822 - 1879)

Hasegawa Gyokuhō was born in Kyoto in 1822.
He was trained by Matsumara Keibun (1779-1843), one of Kyoto’s leading artists of the Shijō school. At his best his work is hardly distinguishable from that of his teacher.
Recurring themes are portraits and kacho-e (bird-and-flower paintings). He died in1879.
